Three rooms in three weeks: our August run
Schubas, Liar's Club and Cubby Bear in the space of a fortnight. Here is what each night is, and why we are looking forward to all three for different reasons.
Three shows in three weeks, in three rooms that could not be less alike. Here is the run.
August 6 — Schubas Tavern
Southport Avenue, wood everywhere, and one of the genuinely great small rooms in Chicago. Schubas is the one where you can hear a guitar decay all the way down, which for a band like us is the whole ballgame. We are planning the set around that.
August 13 — Liar’s Club
The opposite. Low ceiling, dark, loud, and a room where restraint would be a waste of everyone’s evening. Liar’s Club is a 21+ night and it is going to be the sweatiest of the three.
August 20 — Cubby Bear
Across from Wrigley, with The Dream Eaters and Jeremy Weber. The biggest stage on the run and the one where the reverb has actual space to move around in. Tickets for this one are through do312.
Why we are telling you this in advance
Because advance tickets are the difference between a promoter booking a band again and not. That is the unglamorous truth of playing at this level, and we would rather just say it than pretend otherwise.
All three are on the shows page with links. If you can only make one, make it the one closest to your house — we would rather see you than have you commute.
